When my husband and I decided to pack our apartment into storage and travel across the country in an RV, no one thought we would actually do it. But we did (along with our two dogs), and I documented the experience through our blog, TheStarsAboveUs.
I used SquareSpace to create the site, photographed and videoed our travels, and then posted our content to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. It was all a big experiment based on skills I'd been using throughout the first 10 years of my career. Within weeks, we'd gained thousands of followers—well beyond the family and close friends I'd imagined—and I loved monitoring our web analytics to see where people were reading from and how they'd found our site.
